Kamagra is a brand name for sildenafil made by Ajanta Pharma in India. This version is a diamond-shaped, teal film-coated tablet embossed with KGR 100 and the ap logo. The active ingredient is sildenafil citrate, equal to sildenafil 100 mg per tablet.

Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. It blocks the PDE5 enzyme that breaks down cGMP. With cGMP lasting longer, the smooth muscle in the penile blood vessels relaxes and more blood flows in, which helps an erection happen when there is sexual stimulation. Without stimulation the tablet does not cause an erection by itself.

This product is a tablet swallowed with water, unlike the jelly, chewable and effervescent versions that use the same active ingredient.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) means not getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex. Sildenafil is approved for adult men with ED only.

What studies found: in diary data from about 1,600 patients, around 66% of attempts were successful on sildenafil 50-100 mg against about 20% on placebo, and 88% of people in the long-term study said their erections improved (FDA label). Time window: the label says it can be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity, so you do not need to time it exactly.

Effect of food: a high-fat meal delays the start by about 60 minutes and lowers the peak level by about 29%.
